Town school nets new goals

PITCH PERFECT: Jack Greaves

PUPILS at Green Lane Primary School will be more active during break times thanks new five-a-side nets donated by Barnard Castle Juniors FC.
The kit was installed as children returned from the half-term break.
Barney juniors are based at the school and practice and play home matches on the school’s fields. Deputy headteacher Nic Linsley said: “The football club have redone the whole environment and they use large goals on wheels, which are a bit heavy for the children to move around. So, we spoke to them and they have given us these child-appropriate goals. It’s great because we have a big area but not a lot of equipment.”
Barney juniors under-10 goalkeeper Harry Lincoln, who attends the school, said: “It’s good because normally we didn’t have anything to play with.”
His teammate, Jack Greaves, added: “They are really good because there are loads of goalposts around but we couldn’t move them.”
Ms Linsley said the school was extremely grateful.
