Town pupils mark British Science Day

PLEASED TO MEET YOU: Class 1 enjoyed meeting the alpacas inside Montalbo Primary School's new roundhouse

ANIMAL skulls and friendly alpacas were the order of the day as Montalbo Primary School pupils marked British Science Day.
Doug and Sam Steen of Teesdale Alpacas brought along Hercules and Julio from their herd to meet the children, while Prof Chris Greenwell, of Durham University, brought along a collection of animal skulls.
Dr Felicity Greenwell, from the school, said: “We are increasing our science capital by seeing things they otherwise wouldn’t.”
She added that classes were looking into different aspects of science with some learning about teeth and others doing experiments with slime and worms.
Prof Greenwell, who is head of chemistry at Durham University, brought along a wide variety of skulls, ranging from a little mouse to a huge hippopotamus.
