Tourism accolade for Raby Castle

VISITOR AWARD: Raby Castle has received a Visit England tourism award for providing a quality visitor experience Pic: Peter Gunton

Raby Castle has been given a Welcome Award by visit England

The accolade, which was first introduced in 2014, is given to visitor attractions which have gone the extra mile in providing a quality experience.

Attractions qualify for the award after being nominated by a Visit England assessor.

The castle’s general manager Alan McKerchar said being nominated was an achievement in itself, but to have won the prestigious accolade is fantastic for the team.

He said: “I am immensely proud of our incredible team and their unwavering dedication each and every day to create a memorable experience for all of our visitors to Raby Castle. Our heartfelt thanks go to our people here at Raby – you all work tremendously hard and your enthusiasm and commitment doesn’t go unnoticed.”

Mr McKerchar said 2024 would be a significant year for the attraction with the opening of the Rising project in the spring, which he described as a visionary collection of heritage buildings brought to life with new construction, offering retail, hospitality and event spaces to make Raby Castle and iconic destination.

He added: “We all feel we can now move forward with the final stages of the scheme with immense pride as recipients of this fantastic accolade.”
