The shoe fits for Jamie as he steps up to take over Star Cobblers

A new era for a much-loved Barney business began at the weekend after Jamie Siddle formally took over Star Cobblers.

Mr Siddle is already a familiar face in the workshop in Star Yard after agreeing to buy the business in the autumn.

Since then he’s been working with previous owner Adrian Andrews, learning his trade and working on a smooth handover.

“Our idea is to keep it exactly the same,” Mr Siddle said. “The same service, the same offer, the same quality. It’s such a well-loved, respected business and our customers know what they want.”

News of the change in ownership has been well received, with many townsfolk relieved that the cobblers will remain in business.

“We had an amazing response on social media, and I even got stopped in the street yesterday,” smiled Mr Siddle.

Meanwhile, although the paperwork is complete, Mr Andrews isn’t about to retire just yet.

He’s still working in the shop, albeit with reduced hours, to oversee the handover.

“It’s not something you can learn overnight,” he said. “Jamie is doing well, but I’m still here doing a few bits and offering some support, giving some tips and help.”
