Super Santa arrives at Barney schools on a vintage tractor

HO

CHILDREN at primary schools in Barnard Castle got the shock of their lives last week when Santa paid a flying visit on a vintage tractor.

The man in red popped by to say hello to children at Green Lane, Montalbo and St Mary’s schools.

The surprise visit led to cheers and beaming smiles on the last day of term on Friday.

Children rushed to greet Santa who got down from his tractor and sped through the corridors, waving at the delighted children. He then got back on his tractor as children clambered to catch a glimpse through class windows.

He was driven around town by Santa’s little helper, an elf, on a 1957 Fordson Major, which has been lovingly restored by Barnard Castle resident John Moore who offered the use of the vehicle to give the reindeer a break.

Green Lane headteacher Rob Goffee said: “What a treat – thank you Santa.”
