Shop’s expansion plans as sweet treats prove a hit

EXPANSION PLANS: Barbara Phillips launched Babalicious two years ago

SWEET treats from yesteryear coupled with traditional desserts are proving a big hit with customers of Babalicious, in Evenwood.
The retro-style sweet shop, launched by Barbara Phillips, serves up a range of hot and cold traditional desserts as well as milkshakes and a vast array of confectionary from its base in Raby Street.
The venture has proved so popular Ms Phillips has applied to Durham County Council to change the use of a first floor flat at the premises.
The plans propose doubling the retail space on the ground floor and converting first floor bedrooms into stock rooms and an office.
