School closes after staff member confirmed to have Covid-19

MONTALBO Primary School, in Barnard Castle, has been closed for two weeks after a staff member was confirmed as having contracted Covid-19.

Richard Crane, head of education and skills at Durham County Council, said: “I can confirm Montalbo Nursery and Primary School in Barnard Castle has closed for two weeks following an isolated case of Covid-19.

“This was a decision made by staff and governors at the school. A deep clean will be carried out and the school plans to reopen on Monday, June 1.”
