Sarah’s keen to know what families want

BIG PLANS: Sarah Gent

FAMILIES across the dale are being asked what sort of activities they would like to see organised in the coming weeks, months and years as part of a major new project at Barnard Castle’s TCR Hub.
The Hub’s recently appointed family activities co-ordinator Sarah Gent has launched an online survey to ensure what she does meets the needs of the community.
She explained: “This is the beginning of a three year project and I thought the best to start it is to ask people what they would like to see.
“The Hub has some great resources and some fantastic things have been staged here, but now it’s time to ask what people want.”
There are ten questions which Ms Gent said would take less than five minutes to answer.
“The more responses we get, the more meaningful we can make the results,” she said.
“I can’t promise everything that is suggested will be done, but we will read every response.
“I would like to think people would give me an honest response.”
Ms Gent said when government restrictions allow The Hub aims run a number of events and activities for families again, from weekly sessions, workshops and trails to festivals and holiday activities.
“The results of the survey will help me and The Hub team plan what we do in the coming years and give people more of what they want,” she said.
“Activities could be anything from gardening to cookery, high ropes to canoeing.”
She added: “It is also helping raise awareness of what’s here and building on what we can do here.”
Ms Gent was appointed as family activities co-ordinator after a successful bid to the National Lottery communities fund.
The deadline to complete the survey is Tuesday, September 22, however, Ms Gent can also be contacted via email at sarah.tcrhub@ gmail.com if anyone has queries of ideas.
