Santa runs to the aid of school’s coffers

RACING TOWARDS CHRISTMAS: Children at Gaindord Primary School get active and festive TM pics

YOUNGSTERS at Gainford Primary came under starter’s orders to help raise cash for their school.

With fundraising activities organised by the school’s friends group currently on hold due to Covid-19, the children decided to take part in a Santa Run around the playgrounds. Headteacher Chris Riley said normally the Friends of Gainford School would organise an evening of Christmas games at this time of year to boost coffers.

“Instead, we asked the school council what they would like to do. We are also doing a Secret Santa.”

Each class took part in a Santa Run in their own bubble.

All those who took part received a Santa hat and a medal.

“We are raising funds in the best way we can under the current circumstances,” said Mrs Riley.
