A MUM-of-two from the upper dale has launched a dog walking venture to provide a flexible working schedule so she can spend plenty of time with her children.
During the pandemic, when most people spent more time at home due to the lockdowns, many people adopted pets. However, with many now back working in the office now, pet pooches may be missing out on their mid-morning walks.
Animal lover Rebecca Coltman, of Middleton-in-Teesdale, set up her dog walking service, Mucky Paws in a bid to help fill the gap.
She said: “I currently work part time hours for services company Mitie, but I have always loved dogs and animals in general and wanted to do something so I can be more flexible as I have a young family.”
She offers to exercise or feed dogs while owners are at work during the day.
She added: “People are going out to work and leaving their dogs at home and they need to be let out for exercise and I will do whatever the client needs with their dog.
“I had been thinking about it on and off for a while and I thought I would see if anyone was interested.”
Mucky Paws, Mrs Coltman added, could also help elderly pet owners who are unable to get out and about to walk their four-legged friends as often as needed.
The 29-year-old said: “I don’t want the service to be too expensive, but I do have to look at the costs of picking the dogs up to walk them.
“I can also help if someone needs a bit of assistance walking their dogs because they are unwell or unable to do so.”
