Pupils enjoy mock wedding at Gainford

HERE COMES THE 'BRIDE': Gainford vicar Revd Eileen Harrop with the wedding party

PUPILS from Gainford Primary School have learned more about Christian traditions and values by performing their own mock wedding.

Revd Eileen Harrop performed the ceremony at St Mary’s Church where pupils Henry and April made their “marriage vows” . Ryan played the part of the bride’s father and cut a fine figure as he gave her away. As well as exchanging rings the little couple also lit a candle together to symbolise two separate lives being joined together. Mrs Harrop explained the importance of different parts of the ceremony throughout the service, to which parents and friends were invited.
