Pupils celebrate meaning of the harvest

BACK IN CHURCH: Children at Bowes school during the harvest services

PUPILS at Bowes Hutchinson’s Primary School enjoyed their first service in church since February.

The school celebrated harvest in St Giles, which was full of parents, grandparents and friends who heard the children talk about the value of thankfulness and share their work. Penny Sunderland led the service and the children brought an array of gifts and food as donations. Some of the donations will be auctioned to raise money for the church and the rest will be donated to local foodbanks.

Chris Matthewman, headteacher, said: “For many of our reception and year one children this was their first visit to the church so it was a special and happy day.”
