Pupils at Green Lane School, in Barnard Castle, say thanks for continuing support

SWEET TREAT: Teacher Nic Linsley with her band of merry elves Dennis

FAMILIES and friends were invited back to school for a special breakfast with Santa last week as a thank you for their continuing support.

Pupils who form a student council at Green Lane Primary School, in Barnard Castle, came up with idea to hold the event and staff were more than happy to help make it a reality.

The dining hall was transformed with festive bunting, Santa’s grotto was installed and school council members donned elf outfits before the big man pulled up his sleigh.

Bacon, sausage and vegetarian sausage sandwiches were on offer along with tea and coffee and while parents and carers enjoyed the festive treat, pupils lined up to see Santa and receive an early present.

Headteacher Rob Goffee said: “It’s just a little something to give back to the parents for all of their support. It’s the first time we’ve done this and we’ll definitely have it on the calendar for next year.”

He added a £200 cheque was given by GSK and helped fund the event.
