RESIDENTS and visitors in Barnard Castle had their Christmas spirit lifted over several days thanks to a pop-up group.

The community band and community choir from St Mary’s Parish Church appeared in various parts of the town during the two weeks leading up to Christmas.

As well as appearing at the Post Office, Scar Top, Green Lane School and Amen Corner, the group also entertained residents at Dunelm Court, Manor House and Beaconsfield care homes. Astley Fenwick, from the church, said: “It has been a fantastic community effort and the response has been excellent.”
