Pop in for a chat on World Mental Health Day

TOWN STORE: Volunteer Kit Heywood

A FUN day is being organised at the North’s number one ranked Mind charity shop to mark World Mental Health Day.
A tombola along with a warm chat to reassure people who are under the weather is on offer at Barnard Castle’s Mind shop on Monday, October 10. The shop was lowest rated out of 15 Mind stores in the north until new manager Victoria Slack took over about a month ago. She said: “We have literally tripled the take.”
She added that the shop had had a spring clean, upped its quality of service and
now has helpers going the extra mile to hand pick
items according to shoppers’ needs.
Volunteer Sandra Moorhouse has been put in charge of the window dressing to offer a more welcoming feel.
Currently the window has display boards offering interesting information about past residents of the town.
It will soon be taking part in the Turn Barney Pink campaign to raise cash and awareness for the Teesdale branch of Cancer Research UK.
World Metal Health Day celebrations gets underway at 10am at the store, and the fun continues until 2pm.
