Police called in over damage to green

ANTI-SOCIAL: The damage to the green in front of Evenwood Primary School TM pic

POLICE have been asked to investigate deliberate damage to a green in Evenwood.

Welgarth Green, opposite Evenwood Primary School, was ripped up on the evening of Monday, October 23, after a vehicle was repeatedly driven over it. County councillor for the village James Cosslett reported the incident to Bishop Auckland Police on Wednesday.

He said: “I do believe it (the vehicle) was also involved in ripping up the green around by the centre in Evenwood.

“I am sure that this is not only anti-social behaviour, but dangerous driving as well.

“I am trying my best to gather as much evidence as I can as it all helps to bring an end to anti-social behaviour incidents like the ripping up of the green.”
