Police appeal to ‘key witness’ after fatal crash at Cockfield

Police appeal for anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage following a crash along Burnt Houses Lane

POLICE are appealing for information about a fatal smash near Cockfield in Saturday afternoon.

An 80-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after a silver VW Tiguan and a blue Ford Focus collided on Burnt Houses Lane at about 3.30pm on December 16.

A police spokesperson said: “His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“The driver of the Ford Focus was arrested in connection with the incident and later released under investigation.”

Police are keen to speak to a driver of a vehicle which travelled along Front Street, in Cockfield, at about 3.25pm and was immediately ahead of the Tiguan. This vehicle turned left onto Burnt Houses Lane.

Anyone who thinks they might be this key witness is asked to email [email protected].
