Almost £700 has been raised for community groups in Eggleston during a historic photograph exhibition of the village.
Resident Thomas Walker-Jones hosted the free exhibition of about 100 photographs at the village hall over the weekend of Saturday, September 6.
Donations over the two days raised £698 which was divided between the village hall, Eggelston Carnival Committee and Holy Trinity Church.
Mr Walker-Jones said: “The exhibition was a tremendous success with vastly more people visiting that we could have imagined, it was impossible to count but certainly many hundreds of viewers travelled to the exhibition over the weekend with absolutely no quiet periods at all.
“All the feedback that I’ve received has been massively positive.”
He added that the cash would be going to the community groups as a thank you for their support.
Village Hall treasurer Alan Lee welcomed the cash.
He said: “It has been absolutely fantastic, really. It has been a brilliant thing for people who attended and all the work that Thomas did.
“Everyone is really over the moon with the amount it raised and it has brought the community together. Everyone was really interested and there was a steady flow of people over the whole weekend.”
Mr Walker-Jones now plans to host another exhibition next year.
He said: “Next time I will do more towards the people in the industrial side, on smelting mills and mines. Even into the war years.”
Village hall chairman David Hutchinson described the exhibition as “mint”.
