TEESDALE paramedics have thanked two residents who helped them get through the snow at 4am this morning so they could get to a rural patient.
Paramedic Jennifer Todd and emergency care assistant Sandeep Batth, from Barnard Castle station, say they want to send a “special thank you” after the incident.
A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said: “After three night shifts in difficult weather the two were unable to get down the road to the village which was about a mile away. They were about to turn around to try and find a different route when a plough driver stopped and asked if he could help. He phoned his crew mate who had a front loader and they dug the road out especially for our crew. They even waited while they assessed the patient to be sure they could get out again to go to hospital.”
