Outdoor learning – whatever the weather

JUMPING FOR JOY: Children at Ramshaw primary school wearing their new all-weather clothing which was purchased for outdoor activities thanks to CA Group

CHILDREN at Ramshaw Primary School can explore the great outdoors and keep cosy and dry, thanks to a village company.
CA Group, in Evenwood, answered the call to provide 25 waterproof all-in-ones for reception and key stage one children.
It’s part of the school’s efforts to expand forest school activities and make more use of its woodland area and field near the River Gaunless.
Acting deputy head teacher Debra Colegrove said the school is training two members of staff to carry out more forest schooling.
She said: “We’re starting to develop our forest school and get the children doing as many outdoor activities as possible.
“We normally do our own fundraising with parents but Covid made it difficult so we reached out to the community and CA Group came forward. A number of parents work there and they’re a local company.
“The all-in-one suits aren’t cheap – we are very grateful.”
The school hopes to fundraise to buy more wet-weather clothing for older children.
