ALL SMILES: Lyons Court care home activities co-ordinator Judith Buckle with residents and children from Eden House Nursery TM pic

CHILDREN from an Evenwood nursery school brought some festive cheer to elderly last week.

The children from Eden House Nursery sang songs and played games as part of a string of activities taking place at Lyon’s Court care home over December.

Activities co-ordinator for the care home Judith Buckle said: “It is wonderful to see the children and residents interacting. We find how people with dementia brighten up a lot with the children. It is amazing what the children do.”

The home, which has 42 residents aged between 63 and 97, also enjoyed visits from the likes of the Explorer Scouts from Toft Hill, and will later be entertained by Teesdale YMCA and Deerbolt Ladies’ Choir.

Christmas and New Year parties are also planjned.

Ms Buckle said: “We are basically booked up every day for the Christmas period.”
