WOODLAND’S village Christmas tree may not be the tallest in the county, but residents are wondering if it might just be the highest.
The tree, which has been sponsored by Tilesheds Farm for the past three years, is located 352metres (1,154ft) above sea level.
Simon Land, from Tilesheds Farm, said the question of whether the tree is the highest in the county came about during a pub chat.
He added: “It was said one of the houses in Woodland has the highest chimney in County Durham, so the question is, is this the highest Christmas tree in the county?”
The tree was bought from nearby Hamsterley Forest.
Mr Land also sponsored an illuminated tree sculpture at the village’s iconic tin church.
