Mountaineer Alan helping to promote tourism in Nepal

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Alan Hinkes in the embassy with ambassador Gyan Chandra Acharya

MOUNTAINEER Alan Hinkes was invited to an evening at the Napalese Embassy in Kensington Palace Gardens.
Present were dignitaries, ambassadors, ministers, and “friends of Nepal” and Mr Hinkes, who lives near Barnard Castle, gave a short presentation about his love for Nepal and climbing in the Himalaya.

He said tourism and visitors to Nepal fell to almost zero in the past two years – which hit the country’s economy.

Mr Hinkes said it was important to promote the fact that Nepal is open again and welcomes visitors – not just trekkers and climbers.
“There are wildlife parks in the south with rhino, tigers and elephants. Nepal is a very safe country to visit and the people are very friendly,” he said.
