Mince pies round off a fantastic fundraising year for Teesdale group of Marie Curie

VITAL FUNDRAISING: Members of the group with Sarah Meeson

THE Marie Curie Teesdale Fundraising Group has concluded its final fundraising events of the year, gathering in much-needed cash.

On November 19, a food and flowers lunch, which consisted of a meal followed by flower arranging demonstrations given by Sarah Meeson, of Vintage Essence floristry, Barnard Castle, raised a “fantastic total” of £816.80. This was followed on November 24 by a street collection around the town centre.

“Again the residents and visitors of the area showed their support and a total of £622.67 was added to our annual fundraising total. The unfailing support of the Teesdale community never fails to inspire the fundraising group and this year the weather was on our side too,” said Yvonne Macdonald, spokeswoman for the group.

On Tuesday, December 4, the group will hold its annual meeting from 7pm in the Guild Room of St Mary’s Parish Church, Newgate, in Barnard Castle.

“Anyone wishing to find out more about what we do or to hear what events are already in the diary for 2019 is welcome to join us. There may even be a mince pie to be had,” added Ms Macdonald.
