A COW named Daisy was a big hit with visitors at a village fete when she took to the green in Romaldkirk.
The fete has become synonymous with inventive and unusual games for visitors and this year was no different.
The plywood cutout, which was created by resident Derek Nixon, who also runs Anthony Nixon Furniture, was complete with a rubber udder and teats.
Visitors were encouraged to try their hand at milking against the clock and the person with the biggest yield at the end of the afternoon was declared the winner.
However, it wasn’t as easy as milk maid Jane Bloor made it look and some who tried couldn’t get the hang of it, including Barnard Castle’s town cryer Ian Kirkbride.
In addition to games on the green there was a parade through the village led by members of Rumold Morris.
Children who entered the costume competition were all declared winners by judges Sue Kirkbride and Lesley Cutting.
During the afternoon there was music from Middleton and Teesdale Silver Band, and a Punch and Judy show for children as well as tombola, book and plant stalls.
