A DALE teenager has lifted the crown in a regional beauty pageant.
Megan Daniels, 19, beat off competition from 22 other contestants to be named Miss Tees Valley at a black tie event at the weekend.
Miss Daniels, from Barnard Castle, said she is “amazed” and hadn’t rated her chances at winning before the
final.
She added: “It was crazy when they announced the final eight – my name was last and I thought ‘oh well never mind’, but then they called me up and I was shocked.
“Then they announced the runners up and when they said my name as winner I couldn’t believe it.”
Finalists for the competition were encouraged to raise funds for charity and points were awarded for a variety of elements including most photogenic, sportswoman, congeniality and Miss Catwalk with a cause award.
The newly crowned beauty queen, who is studying for a childcare degree at Teesside University, raised more than £2,900 for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice and MFC Foundation -“the two charities supported by the pageant Â- with a number of fundraising activities over the past five months.
As winner of the pageant Miss Daniels is automatically entered into another prestigious competition, Supermodel England 2018.
It is to take place in Barnsley in November. She has also won cash prizes and has become the face of the Cleveland Centre.
Miss Daniels added: “It’s all really exciting – I’m really chuffed.”
