PERFECT PASTA: Seb and Kai make their pizza bases

CHILDREN at Gainford Primary School rounded off an Italian themed day of learning by making delicious pizzas.
Class Wear wore the colours of the Italian flag or costumes associated with the country for the day which was linked to their geography topic.
Head teacher Chris Riley said the theme carried through to various parts of the curriculum such as maths by using Roman numerals, music by listening to opera and language by learning Italian words.
She added: “Having a whole, themed day focused on their Italy topic has created great excitement amongst the pupils in Class Wear.
“It has also helped them to link their learning in many different curriculum areas and promote a real desire for learning.”
The pupils built their own leaning tower of Pasta by using spaghetti and marshmallows.
Pupil Kai said: “It makes our class topic exciting and geography exciting too.
“We also have to use our skills to make pizza dough too.”
Joe added: “We even had collective worship and listened to the Lord’s Prayer in Italian”
