Making their voices heard in aid of Ukraine appeal

The Little Choir

TEESDALE’S own The Little Choir (pictured) came together as one voice with other regional choruses to sing out for Ukraine at a fundraising concert.

The Little Choir women’s a capella choir, St Teresa’s Hospice staff and supporters choir of Darlington, the award winning Reid Street Darlington school choir and Compass Acappella male voice chorus whose members come from across the North East gave their services free at the event at the Dolphin Centre, in Darlington. The sing-out was organised by Darlington Rotary, which came up with the idea.

Member Sue Campbell, from Gainford, said: “We felt we wanted to do something positive and fun to raise funds which will go towards alleviating the suffering in Ukraine, and singing felt like a good way to do it.

“These fantastic choirs have taken time out of their schedules to help us do that, and we’re very grateful. The Little Choir was fantastic and their rendition of the soldier’s lament, the Parting Glass, was a wonderful highlight.” She said the event raised at least £1,300 in ticket, raffle and programme sales, all of which will go to Ukraine. She added: “Rotary is an international organisation and Rotary in the North East has direct links to Rotarys in the affected area, which means we can be assured it all goes to the right places.”
