Lunch club gets into the festive spirit at community centre

CHEERS: Left

STARTFORTH Lunch Club members enjoyed carols by nursery school pupils and entertainment by musicians at their Christmas meal.

Children from Kirklands Nursery gave their all at the event before Butterknowle performers Bryan and Klara Whiley took to the stage at Startforth Community Centre.

The Christmas spread included starters of prawn cocktail or soup, a main meal of roast turkey with all the trimmings, and dessert of cheesecake or Christmas pudding, rounded off with a cheese platter. The club, which has about 45 regular members, is urging more people to sign up for their weekly get together at the community centre.
