Library revamp is just magic, say Staindrop primary pupils

BOOK WORMS: Pupils at Staindrop Primary School were keen to visit their magical themed library

YOUNGSTERS in Staindrop have been left spellbound by their recently transformed library.

Inspired by the tales of Harry Potter, Staindrop Primary School’s library has been refurbished with a magical theme.

The reading area was officially reopened las month.

Headteacher Steve Whelerton said: “Reading is really important to us in school. We have always had a library and it has always been well-stocked but you have to keep it current.

“As with all parts of the school, you have to refresh things to keep the children interested. The children have different interests but magic seems to be something which is standing out at the moment.

“Raising the profile of the library also makes it more welcoming so the children are more likely to go to it. A lot of investment goes into the library to keep the books current.”

Pupils at the school also get the chance to order books they might want to read.

These are kept on a VIP bookshelf in each classroom. The aim is to buy every child a book during the school year.
