A NOSTALGIC wedding dress display attracted scores of people to Barton Village Hall last month.

The event, on Sunday, April 24, was the first fundraiser of the year at the venue and was attended by more than 70 people.

Village hall management committee member Martin Wright said some 26 wedding dresses, worn by ladies from the village on their special day, along with assorted wedding memorabilia, photographs and flowers were on display.

He added: “The afternoon was a celebration of wedding fashion through the generations and the nostalgia it evoked.

“The dresses illustrated beautifully how design trends, materials and styles have changed over the 80 years represented.

“In fact, one dress from 1942 was made almost entirely from parachute silk.”
