Kirk View folk really got the party started

CHEERS: Storm clouds on the horizon didn't dampen the spirits of residents in Kirk View

ALTHOUGH storms clouds loomed on the first day of the jubilee weekend, they couldn’t rain on the residents’ parade in Kirk View, Barnard Castle, when they enjoyed their jubilee street party.

A jubilee party committee - Amanda Layton, Rebecca Kesterton, Louise Hamilton, Annette Vasey and Maryann Heads – organised the loan of chairs and tables from the Parish Hall, oversaw the street decorations and prepared afternoon tea for 56 residents, who got into the spirit of the celebration donning red, white and blue. The community-spirited street joined together, belting out the national anthem before raising a glass to toast the Queen.
