Kids create their very own curry house

GREAT TASTE: Zak Ahmed with pupils at Montalbo

AN award-winning restaurant in Barnard Castle has strong competition from youngsters in the town.
Year five and six children at Montalbo Primary School were inspired after taking part in a lesson with a difference at Babul’s in November.

Since the visit to the restaurant, where they learnt about the business, spices and made naan bread, the children have continued the theme and created their own restaurant for the day.

They developed recipes, created menus and designed their own packaging. Zak Ahmed from Babul’s was invited into the classroom to taste their concoctions and to judge the best curry.

He said: “I was honestly really impressed with what the children had created. I was washing pots at their age, not cooking curries.”
