It’s party time for West’s grand old lady

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Jane Holmes celebrated her 102nd birthday with Leah Dunn

LIVE music and a party were arranged by family and friends as a West Auckland woman celebrated her 102nd birthday.

Jane Holmes marked the major milestone at Devonshire House care home on Wednesday last week.

Home manager Kathryn Cooper said: “Jane is a lovely lady who does very well for her age. People are always amazed when we tell them how old she is.

“Jane has always lived locally and she has a very supportive family who visit her regularly.”

She added: “She loves opera music and used to play the piano. She also used to love going to the seaside with her family for fish and chips and we have planned a trip there in August for her and her fellow residents.

“In her younger years she used to love going dancing and on holiday with family and friends.”

Ms Holmes has been a resident at Devonshire House since 2018.
