
Police and fire crews were called to Cockfield after a suspected petrol bomb attack on a home.
Emergency services were called to the village shortly before 4pm on November 29, after receiving reports of a house fire on Front Street.
Two fire engines, along with a score of police officers, attended the scene. A police spokesperson said: “An investigation is underway following a suspected arson at a house in Cockfield.
“Emergency services were called to West End Terrace around 4pm following reports of a fire at the property.
“Thankfully, the fire was extinguished quickly and nobody was injured, but the occupants of the house were understandably shaken.”
A County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) spokesperson said: “Two fire engines from Bishop Auckland and Darlington fire stations attended.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel and a thermal imaging camera to put out the fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke.
“Crews left the scene at 5.04pm.”
An investigation is ongoing into the incident, and officers are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch.
