A TOWN centre cafe’s toilet has become the 94th in Barnard Castle to sign up to a scheme which boosts facilities in the developing world.
Moments Cafe received its toilet-twinning certificate from local co-ordinator Ian Blake – although the money was actually donated anonymously as a gift.
Mr Blake said: “I have enough money in the bank that will cover another two certificates.
“The local Methodist Church have also said they will have one and that will take us to 97. If I can get to 100 I think I will call it a day.”
Moments Cafe owner Carly Payne said: “It’s a great initiative and I said I would donate to get a toilet twin, but Ian said he had one that was already paid for.”
The cafe’s toilet will be twinned with a community in Pakistan. Anyone who would like to know more about the toilet twinning initiative can email Mr Blake at barneystoilettwinning @gmail.com.
