CHILDREN at Gainford Primary School enjoyed a PE class with a difference last week learning to hula-hoop.
Tracey Davison, of Hoopstarz, visited the school on Monday to teach them a bunch of new tricks.
Headteacher Chris Riley said the school liked to introduce children to different types of exercise that they can do at home to keep active.
She said: “As well as engaging our pupils in activities like football, cricket, swimming, dance and athletics, we thought Hoopstarz would be a wonderful opportunity to introduce all of our pupils to a fun way of keeping fit that also didn’t require very much equipment.
“Hoopstarz is accessible for all and we have funded this via our Sports Premium grant.
“As a school we have a central role to play in supporting all children live healthy active lives.
“This is particularly true of primary schools where the foundations of positive and enjoyable participation in regular physical activity should be established.”
