A popular dale hotel has gone on the market with an asking price of £800,000.
Bowes’ Ancient Unicorn bar, hotel and village shop is being sold because the owner is moving abroad.
David Cash, for the marketers Christie and Co, described the Grade II listed building as having 14 bedrooms and a 50-cover restaurant.
It is also a licensed wedding venue.
He added: “This well-established and much-loved hotel blends period charm and modern hospitality standards. Guests are drawn to its unique features, relaxed atmosphere, and multi-functional offering.”
The agent said the building comes with a parcel of land behind it which currently has planning approval for a ten-bedroom extension as well as two five-bedroom homes.
He said: “This opens up a range of development options including luxury lodges, glamping pods, or a caravan site – subject to planning.
“Whether looking to expand the hotel’s footprint, create a leisure park, or build homes, this sale offers multiple lucrative exit strategies. The current owners are moving abroad which is why they are selling.”
