Barnard Castle is turning pink next month in support of cancer research.
Teesdale Cancer Research is encouraging businesses and homeowners to decorate their windows to create a corridor of colour through the town.
The annual event, which started in 2022, runs until October 17 and has raised thousands of pounds over the years.
At the same time, Turn Barney Pink’s window contest helps draw attention to the work being done to combat cancer.
As well as pink windows in shops, offices, schools and homes throughout Barnard Castle, there are also several fundraising events scheduled during the fortnight.
On October 9, the Old Well pub is hosting an open mic evening, starting at 8pm.
The following day, October 10, there will be a coffee morning in Grove Park from 10am to noon.
One of the highlights of the campaign is the Pink Day at Barnard Castle Cricket Club on October 16. This runs from 10am to 4pm, with various stalls, cake and tea/coffee.
Refreshments are included in the £3 entry donation.
Then Darlington Building Society is holding a coffee and cake day on Friday, October 17 from 10am to 2pm.
All the events are dedicated to raising funds for cancer research programmes here in the North East.
