Hearing clinic ‘ups its game’ to bag national award

HEAR HEAR: Clinic owner Conor Boland and practice manager Amanda Watson with the Global Health and Pharma award

A HEARING clinic in Barnard Castle has been named the best independent practice in the United Kingdom.
Durham Hearing Specialists, based in Hall Street, received the accolade as this year’s Best Independent Audiology Clinic at Global Health and Pharma’s (GHP) Private Healthcare awards.
The award comes on the back of the clinic’s introduction of semi-implant hearing aids and the use of advanced endoscopic technology.
The clinic’s educational Youtube channel, where practice owner Conor Boland discusses problems such as pain in the ear and ear wax was also instrumental in earning the prestigious accolade.
The channel has 60,000 subscribers and one video has racked up more than 1.4million views.
Mr Boland said: “We are thrilled to be recognised by GHP and very grateful to win the award.
“We’re always striving to be the best in our field and offer cutting-edge service and care to our patients.”
He added: “We have been trying to get this award for two years and we have upped our game considerably which is great.
“We are the only clinic in the county to do semi-implant hearing aids in the county.”
Of the latest endoscopic technology Mr Boland said: “The level of care you can do is just incredible.”
