Hard work adds up to success for Ingleton pupils

MP PRAISE: Staff and pupils at Ingleton School were delighted to receive a letter of praise for achieving 100 per cent in maths assessments from the education secretary

STAFF and pupils at a dale school have been praised by the education secretary for being among the top one per cent of primary schools in England for maths

Ingleton Primary School received the congratulatory letter signed by MP Damian Hinds and minister for school standards Nick Gibbs.

In the letter, addressed to headteacher Karen Whitaker, Mr Hinds and Mr Gibbs wrote: “We would like to congratulate you, your staff and your pupils on the very high standards of achievement demonstrated in the mathematics key stage two assessments last year.

“Your school’s results show that 100 per cent of your pupils reached or exceeded the expected standards in mathematics. This means that for achievement in mathematics your school is in the top one per cent of primary schools in England.”

Mrs Whitaker, who only took over as headteacher in September last year, said it was wonderful to receive such a letter of praise.

She said she had shared the news with pupils, staff, parents and governors and it was credit to all the hard work they had put in. Mrs Whitaker added: “I am incredibly proud of what our pupils have achieved.

“They have worked tremendously hard and I would like to personally thank their class teacher Katie Harris and teaching assistant Michelle Briggs for their hard work and commitment given to the pupils in order to achieve this amazing result.”
