PUPILS from schools across Teesdale are being encouraged to plant “seeds of hope” for the future.
Gardening packs with sunflower seeds, inspiring poetry, miniature gardening tools and postcards have been handed out to primary schools across the dale by Morrisons staff members Gillian Robinson and Emma Hepper.
Ms Robinson said: “We just want to give a bit of positivity and encourage the children to plant some seeds of hope for the future.”
The packs have been delivered to a variety of primary schools including Montalbo, Green Lane School and St Mary’s RC in Barnard Castle as well as Evenwood, Gainford, Staindrop and Middleton-in-Teesdale.
Ms Robinson added: “We’ve included the postcards that the children can colour in and send messages of hope to those who they haven’t seen for some time.”
Jemma Fletcher, from Green Lane School Nursery, said the children would be encouraged to take the dwarf sunflower seeds home to grow.
