Grassholme Reservoir angling permit cost to increase

FEE INCREASE: Grassholme reservoir

ANGLERS are being urged to get their fishing lines ready as the new fishing season at Northumbrian Water’s waterside parks and fisheries starts next month.

The new fishing season opens from 7am on Saturday, March 10.

This year’s permit prices will increase, following three years of prices staying steady.

Don Coe, Northumbrian Water’s fisheries manager, said: “We appreciate that many anglers are finding it increasingly difficult to fund their fishing.

“It’s not easy for us to meet the costs to sustain our fisheries either but we continue to look closely at our budgets and believe that this year’s small price increase will help us offset ever rising trout feed costs and sustain our fisheries and catch limits.”

Visitor centre opening times at Grassholme Reservior will be from 8am Monday to Friday and 7am on weekends and Bank Holidays.

An eight-day fish permit will cost £25, with concessions at £23.

For the wild brown trout enthusiast, a four season permit has been introduced at £90.

Anglers can purchase this permit from Grassholme Waterside Park Visitor Centre and enjoy unlimited visits throughout the season to Cow Green, Selset, Balderhead and Blackton reservoirs.
