A POPULAR village panto celebrates its silver anniversary when this year’s fun-packed show takes to the stage next month.
Members of Dalton Amateur Dramatic Society (DADS) are marking the occasion with a new production called A 25 Year Special.
It has been written by Adam Wallis who is also co-directing the panto with Rebecca Harker – the fifth year in a row the duo have taken the helm.
Adam said: “I have wanted to write a pantomime script for a while now and thought this year being our 25th anniversary would be the ideal time for me to give it a go, although I didn’t anticipate when I started writing that there would be to be quite so many cast members – 22 at the last count.”
The plot of the panto remains a closely guarded secret.
Rebecca explained: “The title of the production this year seems to have sparked interest from many of the public, all wondering what the story of A 25 Year Special could be and whether it is a mash-up of all of the past pantomimes.
“The cast are keeping their cards close to their chest regarding the storyline, however, they are prepared to reveal that the show is based on a singular classic fairytale that has never been performed by DADS in the past.
As usual, there will be four performances of the panto at Dalton Village Hall when all will be revealed.
There will be three evening shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 27, 28 and March 1, with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday, March 1.
