Fright night of spooky storytelling at town community centre

GHOST STORIES: Laurence Sach from the Castle Players and Sarah Gent are looking forward to sharing spooky tales around the firepit

GHOST, ghouls and tales that will send shivers down your spine are the order of the day for the spook-tastic informal story sharing evening with the Castle Players at the Hub this Halloween.
The event, which will be held outdoors, around the venue’s firepit, on Friday, October 30, is sure to raise a few goosebumps.
Organiser Sarah Gent said: “The idea is everyone can share their own story in the oral tradition in a friendly setting for everyone’s amusement.
“I approached the Castle Players and Laurence Sach about this because we wanted to welcome them to the Hub and although it’s not a rehearsed performance- we thought it was a great way for some of the Players to add a little drama to the evening in a really atmospheric setting.”
Six members of the amateur performing group, which have been unable to stage events this year, will retell their own favourite scary- but not too scary – stories through the evening.
Ms Gent added: “You’re welcome to come along and just listen to the tales or retell one yourselves as it would be nice to raise a few hairs on the backs of necks.
“We’ll have the fire pit roaring and the event is taking place outside so everyone will need to wrap up warm. We are asking people if they do wish to tell a ghost story to not make it too scary and that’s why we’ve made it 11 years plus, as we don’t want to have problems with people sleeping afterwards.”
The Hub Cafe will provide tasty chilli – vegan, veggie and gluten free – and jacket potato for supper and is included in the price. Food will be served part way through the story telling and anyone booking is in advised to bring their own drinks.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm, have to be booked. There are nine family picnic tables with up to four seats at each, available. Individual tickets are £7 and group tickets cost between £13 and £20.
