Flat Stan helps kids learn about first aid

VITAL LESSONS: Pupils at Staindrop Primary School were taught life-saving skills

YOUNGSTERS in Staindrop have gained valuable life skills after taking part in first aid training.

Children at Staindrop Primary School learned how to perform CPR, put someone in a recovery position and how to help a casualty who is choking as part of a Flat Stan First Aid workshop. Trainer Helen Dent delivered the training in school earlier this month with the help of the Flat Stan manikin and Dr ABC (danger, response, airways, breathing and CPR).

Teacher Kirsty Allen said: “The staff believe passionately in providing children with opportunities to learn such life skills for their own independence and safety.”
