A DRIVER who died in a fatal crash near Toft Hill last week has been named as Paul Joe Robinson from Leeholme.

The B6282 was closed between Nettlebed Lane and the A68 on Wednesday, February 19, after a black Puegeot 207 and a white Kia Ceed collided at about 11.15am.

The 22-year-old’s family said in a statement: “We are all heartbroken at the loss of Joe.

“He was a loving son, brother, uncle and boyfriend. He will be missed by all his friends and family, but especially his mam, dad and stepmam.

“Joe was a little character, and he will never be forgotten.”

Two people in the Kia were injured in the smash.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

A police spokesperson said officers from the serious collision investigation unit are still keen to speak to witnesses who have not already contacted police, or anyone with dashcam of CCTV footage of the incident and both vehicles before the crash happened.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact investigators at [email protected] quoting incident number 122 of February 19.
