Farm shop works with Age UK to feed elderly

ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES: Staff member Philip Mortimer at Thorpe Farm

THORPE Farm, at Greta Bridge, has teamed up with Age UK to supply ready meals for the elderly.
The service, which was started on Monday, March 30, is aimed at people aged 70 or older, as well as over-55s who are self-isolating.
People order meals which are then prepared by Thorpe Farm staff and delivered by Age UK drivers.
A spokesperson for Thorpe Farm said each £5 meal includes a hot dinner and a dessert, and demand had grown soon after the service was launched.
He added: “It has been really positive. We are honoured to be part of this amazing cause, helping with their efforts to provide meals to those who are in self-isolation.
“Thorpe Farm can also help with people’s shopping.
“Simply give us a call and our team will help put together your essential order with safe payment available over the phone.
“You can then come and collect your order or if you live in the local area we can assist with delivery.”
Age UK has also teamed up with the White Swan pub, in Richmond, to deliver hot meals to people living in North Yorkshire.
Residents can order their ready meals by contacting
Age UK Catering on 01325 741492, or directly from Thorpe Farm on 01833 627242.
They can also search for Thorpe Farm Centre on Facebook for more information about shopping or ready meals.
