Exam results 2021: Dale students among many high achievers at QE 6th Form

LONDON BOUND: Helen Teward will study at London School of Economics and Political Science

Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington
STUDENTS and staff celebrated another year of excellent A Level results. QE is one of the largest A Level centres in the country and continues to provide an exceptionally high-quality education for students from across the region.
This year’s A Level pass rate was 100 per cent with a high grade rate (A*, A and B grades) of more than 64 per cent. One student achieved five A*/A grades; 33 students attained 4 A*/A grades and a further 79 students were awarded 3 A*/A.
There were some exceptional individual performances from students from dale.
Holly Watson, formerly of Staindrop Academy, will study modern and medieval languages (French and German) at the University of Cambridge after achieving four A* grades in French, history, English literature and extended project.
She said: “I’ll never forget my time at QE; I enjoyed every single one of my lessons.”
Studying at London School of Economics and Political Science will be Helen Teward, another former student of Staindrop Academy. Helen’s degree will be in history after she secured three A* grades in history, law and psychology, and an A in Economics.
She said she had enjoyed her time at QE.
“The atmosphere always makes you feel at ease and is ideal for helping you to reach your goals.”
Other students celebrating included Hope Bailey-Withers, from Gainford, who attained three A* grades in biology, maths and computer science, and Elizabeth MacInnes, from Staindrop, who gained an A* in psychology and two A grades in geography and geology.
Ellie Tweddle, who went to Barnard Castle School, achieved an A* in English literature, two A grades in history and extended project, and a B in German. She has used her qualifications to secure a six-year solicitor degree apprenticeship.
QE principal Tim Fisher said: “Our students have coped magnificently with the challenges that they have faced and their tremendous achievements indicate just how resourceful and talented they are.
“The excellent results they have been awarded will enable them to progress with confidence to the next stage of their lives.
“I am sure that they will go on to have the bright futures they deserve.”
