Ex-mayors’ benches for schools

SUPER SEATS: Former Barney mayors Sandra Moorhouse and John Blissett with one of the benches they provided for the town's schools. Seated are Green Lane primary pupils Eleanor Hughes and Augusto Monteagudo

FORMER mayors of Barnard Castle Sandra Moorhouse and John Blissett’s final act of service to the town was to present benches to local schools to commemorate King Charles III’s accession to the thrown. The seats were paid for through their mayoral fundraising activities during the years they wore their chains of office.

Benches were delivered to St Mary’s RC, Barnard Castle Prep School, Green Lane and Montalbo primary schools, where pupils helped fix plaques to the seats.
